I’ve been able to migrate the blog data from DasBlog into Wordpress. Hope this works, as I’ve been very upset by the fact that DasBlog does NOT export compliant XHTML 1.0 (damn “easy-editors”!) and don’t have time to touch it here and there
Actually, I also wanted to try some of the famous and almighty Wordpress… it’s actually a very cool web application and I liked the interface. So Joel is one of those guys who also take their own advices… that’s a good thing.
(by the way, if you don’t usually read http://www.joelonsoftware.com let me advise you: a) start reading it and/or b) buy his book)
Great blog man!
How did you migrate dasBlog to WordPress? I’m looking to do the same thing but some quick research didn’t find any tools. I program in .NET and know SQL (SQL Server), so writing something on my own shouldn’t be hard. I was hoping that a script already existed since I don’t know PHP and have never worked with MySQL
hey Jeff!
There is no need of a special tool. Wordpress has got a mode of importing existing RSS, so you just need to use it and point it to your RSS feed from DasBlog (ensure the RSS feed lists all entries)
You can get all the info here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Importing_Content under the “Importing from an RSS feed” section
Then you will just need some editing to ensure everything is alright
And as a reccomendation: turn off the “post footer” option in DasBlog before doing it (or you’ll have your footer in every post in wordpress to be deleted by hand!)
Good luck with it!
