Well, for now they have only advertised the possibility of creating Gadgets (like in OSX Dashboard) and I'm not sure about the version of Java included in the device (as Apple has their own J2SE implementation and there aren't news on whether that would be available apart from the Dashboard and ObjectiveC APIs)

Regarding 3G, there are some official communications confirming they plan to support it in the future... so let's wait and see... }:)

there are some articles out there quoting things not to like about it (like http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/09/the-iphone-is-not-a-smartphone/) but... I still want one! }:D

Not impressed, yet. The only thing I really like for now is the multi touch screen and the possibilities it brings, like the zooming ability. Maybe the browser would be nice too for use at home over WIFI, but until they get 3G on these things it is not going to be of much use. Try to use that browser over GPRS, and the speed is not going to be the same at all as what they showed at the keynote (they used WIFI), and you also have to add the data costs...

Also, can we freely create programs for this device?

That said, I wouldn't reject it if someone gave me one of these as a present ;-)
